Camembert Rôti au Four

(It means melted cheese, thats all you have to know)

For the first recipe of the blog, I decided to go classic.

Euh scratch that. I decided to go cliché.

How cliché? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A FRENCH GIRL MELTING SOME FRENCH CHEESE! Doesn't get more cliché than that, does it? Oops wait, it does.

Setting the Mood

Open your music platform of choice and search "Boum!" by Charles Trenet, and listen to this Radio / playlist.

Now, let's get to the fun part. The melted cheese.

The best thing about this recipe is that you can dazzle your guests with minimum efforts involved.

Turn on your oven at 180°C

Pick a good camembert (Dalewood is my go to - Fauxmage is a fabulous vegan option)

Cut open in half like a sandwich.

Spread a tablespoon of our Fig & Lavender jam between the layers.

By now you should hear the crickets singing.

Put the Camembert in a small Iron skillet and cover with foil, after 15 minutes remove the foil to allow the camembert to grill a few more minutes.

Alternatively, if you don't have a skillet, wrap it completely in foil and put in the oven for 20 minutes.

When the camembert is nice and melty, take it out and drop a generous amount of our Fig and Lavender Jam on top.

Display with your favorite crackers.

Decide if you want to share or not (no judgement here)

Pimp it: Want to make it more South African? Swap the Fig and Lavender for our Onion & Rosemary jam and throw the camembert in foil on the braai!
